On May 22, SWEPCO co-hosted a luncheon with Black Hills Energy to present five Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractors with the 2019 U.S. Department of Energy Century Club Award. Each of these contractors improved the energy efficiency of more than 100 homes of SWEPCO Arkansas customers in 2018.
The 2019 recipients are:
- National Energy Conservation Services, a SWEPCO contractor since 2013
- Energy Misers, Inc., a SWEPCO contractor since 2014
- Evans Go Green, a SWEPCO contractor since 2014
- e3 solutions, a SWEPCO contractor since 2015
- D&A Conservation, a SWEPCO contractor since 2016
The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program was developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help customers lower their energy bills while improving the comfort, air quality and safety of their home. The contractors for this program, including the ones recognized above, are trained to conduct diagnostic and combustion safety testing, detect carbon monoxide and protect indoor air quality. With the overlap in the service territory, this program is funded by both SWEPCO and Black Hills Energy.
Since the program started in 2013, all the participating contractors have improved the efficiency of 15,251 single-family homes and 7,565 multi-family homes, saving 35,650,338 kWh and 2,424,221 therms, a natural gas measurement. This is equivalent to 93 million miles not driven by cars and 58,367 barrels of oil not consumed. The hard dollar savings are $8,070,264 in customer incentives and $5.6 million in annual customer savings.
Many thanks to this group of 2019 Century Club Award recipients for working hard to provide these savings to our customers.
