On Thursday, May 16, Cabot Corporation hosted its first Sustainability Day for its more than 4,500 employees across all of its locations worldwide. Suzanne Scribner, Environmental Manager of Cabot’s plant in Marshall, Texas, reached out to SWEPCO’s Energy Efficiency team to see if they would like to participate by providing Cabot employees with energy saving information.
SWEPCO Energy Efficiency & Consumer Program Coordinators Kawona Abmas and Debra Miller, who both oversee SWEPCO’s Residential Energy Efficiency Programs, were quick to volunteer! They met with more than 80 Cabot employees over a period of two and a half hours to discuss ways to save energy at home and at work.
“It’s great to see one of our customers champion sustainability initiatives and immediately think of SWEPCO for support,” said Kawona Abmas. “I’m glad we played an active role in educating their employees about how sustainability and energy go hand in hand.”
Cabot’s Marshall facility, a SWEPCO Commercial Customer, is the North American headquarters for the production of its activated carbon products. It produces both powdered and granular activated carbon for a variety of end-use applications, including gas and air purification, water purification, food and beverages, mining and chemicals. Established in the 1920s, the Cabot Marshall team currently consists of approximately 200 employees.
