Thirteen SWEPCO employees and family members joined other volunteers to build a home with the Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity this weekend.
Ms. Ava, the recipient of the home, began the morning by thanking the many volunteers who showed up to help her build her house. As a single mother with one dependent child, Ava has been applying for Habitat housing for several years.
“I could not have this house without [the volunteers] and Habitat for Humanity,” Ava said.
Back at the office Monday morning, there were smiles and congratulations going around, according to External Affairs Manager Mark Robinson.
“It was a great day,” said Tom Edwards, senior Safety & Health coordinator, who volunteered with his wife and daughter, “and that it felt good to be a blessing to someone in the Longview community.”
