SWEPCO employees answer questions from students at Pittsburg, Texas High School career fair.
Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Texas Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with Tri-Agency Initiative partners, Governor’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism and industry associations, raised awareness about careers for in-demand industries through state-wide “Careers in Texas Industries Week” events. SWEPCO took part in the Region 8 career fair at Pittsburg High School Sept. 28.
The career exploration events, held the week of September 25-29, encouraged 11th grade students to explore careers in the growing Texas Industry Clusters. The events helped students, parents and educators understand in-demand industries through networking with industry professionals and colleges in their region.
“The TWC wants to develop strong links between education and industry, with the goal of helping Texas grow in economic prosperity,” said Jennifer Harland, external affairs manager, Texarkana. “Careers in Texas Industries Week is an initiative to promote state-wide and regional industry clusters that support job creation through employer partnerships across the state.”
