SWEPCO announces major project to secure low-cost, renewable energy for customers

Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) today announced plans for a major clean energy project that will provide 6 million megawatt-hours (mWh) of new wind energy annually to SWEPCO customers. SWEPCO will file applications July 31 with utility regulators in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas to request approval for the project. RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech University received a generous $1 million gift Wednesday from Nicholas K. Akins, chairman, president and CEO of American Electric Power, and chairman of the AEP Foundation, to support a new Academic Success Center located inside Bossier Parish Community College’s (BPCC) STEM Building in the National Cyber Research Park in Bossier City.
