Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) plans to make a variety of improvements in the Summer Grove area of Shreveport. The estimated $25 million Summer Grove Area Improvements Project will ensure continued reliability to area customers and will provide vital support for local economic development.
The project involves building about 1.5 miles of new 69 kilovolt (kV) transmission line, building the new Leaside Way Substation, rerouting about one mile of 138 kV line around Leaside Way Substation, upgrading six existing substations and removing conductor from an existing 69 kV transmission line.
The new line will originate from the existing Summer Grove Substation located near Dean Road. It will end at the proposed Leaside Way Substation, located west of Old Mansfield Road.
Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2017 and be completed by late 2018. Restoration is expected to be complete in early 2019.
