SWEPCO provided an opportunity for young people to fish, have fun and enjoy nature.
SWEPCO’s Pirkey Environmental Park in East Texas hosted Fishing for the Future Day for the third year in a row. More than 150 special needs students from nine area Harrison County schools, along with two special needs adult groups from Marshall, attended the annual event.
“We partner with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Harrison County Game Wardens on this event,” said Samantha McDonald, Pirkey plant environmental coordinator. “There were a lot of fun times fishing, playing games, getting prizes and giveaways throughout the day, and everyone enjoyed hot dogs and burgers for lunch.”
