SWEPCO hosts open house for transmission line project rebuild in Henderson

SWEPCO plans to rebuild about six miles of existing 69,000-volts transmission line in Henderson, Tx.

The estimated $9 million Evenside – Northwest Henderson Transmission Line Project will ensure continued reliability to the area and will provide vital support for local economic development.

SWEPCO hosted a come-and-go informational open house Tuesday, March 7, at the Northside Intermediate School for property owners, city officials and the news media to learn project details, look at maps and speak with members of the project team.

The project involves replacing aging wooden poles and transmission line with single steel poles Construction is expected to begin this fall and be completed by Summer 2018.

The need to replace the aging infrastructure was determined by the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), the regional transmission organization responsible for overseeing the electric transmission grid in this area of Texas. SPP operates under federal mandate to ensure reliable supplies of power, adequate transmission infrastructure and reasonable wholesale electricity rates.
