SWEPCO assists with Wounded Warrior hunt on Lake Millwood

On October 15-16, SWEPCO assisted with the Wounded Warrior Hunt on Lake Millwood, Ark. in conjunction with the Millwood Lake Focus Committee and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The corps used land that is not normally open to hunters and allowed the veterans to experience a great deer hunt during muzzle loader season.  Hunters were successful in harvesting two 7pt bucks, two 8pt. bucks and six doe.  The deer were processed and sent home with the hunters.

SWEPCO’s John W. Turk, Jr. Power Plant at Fulton, Ark. supplied volunteers to assist the veterans during the hunt and side-by-side vehicles to move the hunters around.   SWEPCO Distribution employees provided lunch for the hunters and volunteers.  Hunters came from Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma to Lake Millwood.

“It was an extreme honor to support this effort and give back to these men who have sacrificed so much for their country,” said Jennifer Harland, external affairs manager in Texarkana.
