The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) Bossier Treatment Center received a check for $12,455.55, representing the incentive earned in our Louisiana Small Business Direct Install Program.

The energy-efficient LED lighting retrofit will significantly reduce the amount of electricity used.

The treatment center’s LED lighting upgrade project, completed by Shreveport’s Butler Electric, LLC, will save more than 90,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to preventing the annual greenhouse gas emissions from more than 152,755 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle or 20 tons of waste recycles instead of landfilled, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency. The estimated annual energy savings is $9,500, nearly three months’ worth of energy costs returned to CADA every year.

“CADA is so grateful to be a part of this program,” said Executive Director Bill Rose. “We have already seen savings in our energy bill, plus, the facility is bright and well lit. A huge thanks to all involved in the seamless execution of the project!”

CADA initiated a complete LED lighting retrofit for the 72-bed, 4-wing Bossier Treatment Facility. The lighting upgrades allowed CADA to upgrade the aesthetics of the facility for patients and employees, improve safety and exterior lighting, and lower future maintenance costs.

“SWEPCO is helping its customers reduce their energy usage while boosting economic development by working with local, approved contractors,” said Jeff Thigpen, SWEPCO’s Louisiana consumer program coordinator. “We’re proud to reward CADA for their energy-saving efforts.”

The Small Business Direct Install Program helps SWEPCO small business customers save energy and money by providing facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on the verified electric energy and demand savings.
