Downtown Shreveport’s Fairmont Apartments received a check representing the incentives earned ($23,759.38) in our Louisiana Commercial & Industrial Solutions Program. The energy-saving measures will significantly reduce the amount of electricity used.
The historic apartment building installed energy-efficient lighting upgrades far above the mandated state energy code. The upgrades will save more than 237,593 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to preventing the annual greenhouse gas emissions from more than 390,077 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency.
“I would like to thank SWEPCO for this great program, which gives us an opportunity to use electricity more efficiently and create a brighter atmosphere that our residents appreciate,” said Perry L. Johnson, senior manager of the Fairmont Apartments. “Our staff has had a countless amount of positive comments on how the community has more warmth and a safer feel.”
“We’re proud of the accomplishments of the Fairmont Apartments, and we’re pleased to reward its efforts,” said SWEPCO’s Louisiana Consumer Program Coordinator Jeff Thigpen.
The Commercial & Industrial Solutions Program helps SWEPCO business customers save energy and money by providing facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on the verified electric energy and demand savings. The completed upgrades will provide big energy savings for the historic apartment building, while creating a more inviting environment for tenants.
