(1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 10) Severe storms with high winds and tornado-like activity roared through the I-30 corridor near Texarkana Monday night, causing a peak of 10,000 outages by 11:59 p.m. Monday night, May 9. As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, there were 7,500 customers without power, including 5,000 on damaged circuits out of the Richmond Road Substation.
Hardest hit areas were north Texarkana, 12th St., 39th St., Taylor St. and western portions of Texarkana, along with Hooks, Nash and New Boston areas of Northeast Texas.
Crews are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power. Estimated time of restoration (ETR) for the area is Wednesday, May 11, 6 p.m. The ETR, however, for specific towns are below:
-Texarkana, Arkansas ETR is 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, May 10.
-Texarkana, Texas will be restored south of Interstate 30 at 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, May 10.
-New Boston/ DeKalb, Texas ETR is 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 10.
